Lawyer – Institutional & EU Law (Luxembourg)

About the role

The European Investment Bank (EIB) is seeking a Lawyer specialized in Institutional and European Union law to join its Legal Corporate Department in Luxembourg. This fixed‑term position runs until the end of March 2027 and requires regular presence at the headquarters.

Key responsibilities

• Represent the EIB as an agent in litigation before the Court of Justice of the European Union.
• Provide legal advice, notes and opinions on complex institutional, transparency, anti‑fraud, complaints and staff‑related matters.
• Conduct legal research and studies across the division’s areas of responsibility.
• Participate in internal and external working groups, panels and task forces.
• Liaise with external counsel, supervise their work and maintain contacts with counterparts inside and outside the Bank.
• Stay up‑to‑date with relevant legal developments and build professional relationships.

Required profile

• University degree in law (minimum bachelor, preferably master level).
• Master’s degree in EU law and bar qualification are strong assets.
• At least 5 years of relevant experience, preferably within EU institutions or an internationally recognised law firm.
• Experience in EU litigation and deep knowledge of EU law are distinct advantages.

• Proficiency with standard computer tools and familiarity with legal databases.
