Regulatory and Litigation Counsel, Competition

About the role

Google is seeking a Regulatory and Litigation Counsel specializing in competition law to join its EMEA legal team. The role involves shaping defence strategies, leading investigations, and representing the company before regulators and courts across Europe.

Key responsibilities

• Lead internal and external counsel/economists in responding to regulatory inquiries, investigations, litigation, and enforcement actions related to competition law.
• Oversee the collection, production, and review of accurate information for external submissions and disclosures.
• Partner with business units to define strategy, manage regulatory risk, and ensure compliance.
• Represent Google in meetings with the European Commission, Member State Competition Authorities, and other stakeholders.

Required profile

• JD, LL.B., or equivalent degree with admission to the bar in the UK or an EU member state.
• Minimum 7 years of attorney‑level experience in government, in‑house, or law‑firm settings.
• Proven experience litigating competition issues before civil courts and engaging with competition regulators.
• Demonstrated ability to manage projects and work effectively with cross‑functional teams.
