Mechanical Design Engineer – Permanent, West Flanders

About the role

We are seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to develop robust, high‑performance machines and automation equipment for industrial environments. The role covers the full engineering lifecycle, from concept to production support, ensuring solutions are reliable, manufacturable and cost‑effective.

Key responsibilities

• Design mechanical systems, machines, mechanisms and automation equipment.
• Create 3D CAD models, detailed drawings and assembly documentation.
• Perform engineering calculations for strength, motion, tolerance and performance.
• Select materials, components, bearings, actuators and drive systems.
• Apply design for manufacturability (DFM), design for assembly (DFA) and reliability principles.
• Support prototyping, machine build, testing and validation activities.
• Troubleshoot mechanical issues and improve existing designs.
• Collaborate with electrical and controls engineers for system integration.
• Ensure compliance with safety standards and industry regulations.
• Assist production teams during manufacturing and commissioning.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
• Strong experience in machine or industrial equipment design.
• Proficiency with 3D CAD software (SolidWorks, Inventor, Creo or similar).
• Solid understanding of mechanics, kinematics and machine elements.
• Experience with tolerance analysis and GD&T.
• Knowledge of manufacturing processes such as machining, welding, fabrication and assembly.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities.
