Enterprise Architect – Freelance (Brussels)

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Enterprise Architect on a freelance basis to support a major digital transformation program for a Belgian federal organization. The role is hybrid, with 50% remote work, and focuses on defining the future enterprise architecture and establishing a centralized data landscape.

Key responsibilities

• Develop the enterprise and business architecture roadmap and create a capability map.
• Analyse and document the current (AS‑IS) and future (TO‑BE) application landscape.
• Map application interfaces, data flows, and integrations with internal and external stakeholders.
• Define a centralized data‑layer strategy to optimise data exchange.
• Assess and improve existing architecture documentation, identifying synergies, gaps and optimisation opportunities.
• Collaborate with business, software and data architects on strategic initiatives.

Required profile

• Proven experience as an Enterprise Architect or Business Architect.
• Strong background in enterprise, application and data architecture.
• Experience with capability mapping and architecture frameworks.
• Knowledge of data integration, data warehousing and reporting environments.
• Professional proficiency in Dutch, French and English.
• Experience in the public sector or large complex organisations is a plus.
