EU Policy Affairs Officer (Fixed‑Term, 1 year)

About the role

The Marine Stewardship Council (MSC) is seeking an entry‑level EU Policy Affairs Officer to join its Brussels team. You will work at the heart of EU policymaking, supporting the development of legislation that promotes sustainable fisheries, responsible consumption and eco‑labelling.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor EU legislative initiatives related to consumer protection, eco‑labelling, fisheries and sustainable food systems.
• Analyse policy proposals and prepare concise briefing notes for internal and external stakeholders.
• Support the MSC’s advocacy efforts by drafting position papers, comments and responses to EU institutions.
• Engage with EU officials, NGOs, industry groups and other partners to build relationships and influence outcomes.
• Coordinate cross‑functional inputs and ensure timely delivery of policy‑related deliverables.

Required profile

• Understanding of EU policymaking processes and ability to communicate complex legislative developments clearly.
• Strong organisational and coordination skills with experience handling multiple priorities under tight deadlines.
• Excellent stakeholder‑engagement and communication abilities, comfortable in meetings and relationship‑building.
• Interest or experience in sustainability, fisheries, food systems or environmental policy (desirable but not essential).
