Data Center Facilities Technician I, Electrical

About the role

The Data Center team designs and operates some of the most sophisticated electrical, mechanical, and HVAC systems in the world. As a Facilities Technician, you will operate, monitor, and support the physical facilities conditions of Google data centers, ensuring reliable power and environmental performance.

Key responsibilities

• Operate, monitor, and support electrical distribution, power supply, generators, UPS, and HVAC systems.
• Inspect, maintain, and repair piping, non‑critical electrical and mechanical components.
• Read blueprints and schematics, conduct system tours, and assess equipment condition.
• Develop cost‑reduction approaches while maintaining safety and environmental standards.
• Identify problems, perform rapid repairs, and manage emergency outages to minimize downtime.

Required profile

• Associate's degree, trade school certification, or equivalent practical experience.
• Experience with electrical distribution systems.
• Ability to lift/move up to 50 lb and use safety equipment (platforms, ladders, PPE, harnesses).
• Willingness to work non‑standard hours, rotations, or shifts.
• Preferred: experience in data centers, hospitals, or power plants; knowledge of data‑center electrical systems (feeders, transformers, generators, switchgear, UPS, ATS/STS, PDU/PMM).
• Ability to communicate effectively with contractors.
