Senior Developer (Freelance) – 8‑Month Contract in Brussels

About the role

We are looking for a Senior Developer on a freelance basis to join a mission‑critical EdTech project in Brussels for an eight‑month engagement. You will help shape a secure digital access platform that enables thousands of students and educators to reach learning resources effortlessly.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and coach a high‑performing development team, promoting ownership and technical excellence.
• Design, develop, and optimise web‑based applications that form the core of a secure digital access platform.
• Integrate complex data models, converting government‑managed student data into secure authentication flows.
• Champion Agile methodologies, driving sprint planning, execution, and continuous improvement.
• Architect and implement robust REST APIs and Single Sign‑On (SSO) solutions across multiple educational applications.
• Maintain high standards in coding, testing, debugging, and documentation to deliver reliable, scalable solutions.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to translate educational needs into technical outcomes.

Required profile

• Fluent Dutch (CEFR C2) – mandatory.
• Proven experience leading and coaching development teams.
• Strong ability to execute programming tasks efficiently, including coding, testing, and debugging.
• Deep knowledge of Agile development practices.
