Mechanical Design Engineer – Machine Design (Geel, Belgium)

About the role

We are seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to join our multidisciplinary team in Geel. You will be responsible for the full lifecycle of industrial machinery, from concept through detailed design, prototyping, testing, and production support.

Key responsibilities

• Design and develop mechanical systems, assemblies, and components for specialised machinery.
• Create detailed 2D drawings and 3D CAD models using SolidWorks, Inventor or Creo.
• Perform engineering calculations for strength, tolerance, motion and material selection.
• Collaborate with electrical, controls and manufacturing engineers to ensure design feasibility and integration.
• Support prototype build, testing, validation and iterative improvements.
• Maintain technical documentation, BOMs and design records while ensuring compliance with safety standards (e.g., CE/UKCA).
• Identify opportunities for cost reduction, optimisation and performance enhancement.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
• 2–5+ years of experience in machine design or special‑purpose machinery.
• Strong problem‑solving skills and attention to detail.
• Experience working in cross‑functional engineering teams.
