Mechanical Design Engineer

About the role

We are seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to develop innovative, user‑centered physical products from concept through mass‑production. The role blends engineering precision with thoughtful design to deliver functional, reliable, and aesthetically refined solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Design consumer or industrial products from concept to production.
• Create 3D CAD models, assemblies and detailed engineering drawings.
• Collaborate with industrial designers to refine product form and usability.
• Select materials and manufacturing processes such as injection molding, CNC machining and sheet‑metal fabrication.
• Perform mechanical analysis for strength, durability and performance.
• Apply Design for Manufacturability (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA) principles and optimise cost.
• Build and test prototypes, iterating designs based on results and feedback.
• Work with suppliers and manufacturers to ensure design feasibility and support tooling, molding and production ramp‑up.
• Ensure compliance with applicable product safety and regulatory standards.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
• Strong experience in product design and development.
• Ability to translate user needs and product requirements into engineered solutions.
• Proven capability to work closely with industrial designers, electrical engineers and suppliers.
• Attention to detail and commitment to design quality.

Required skills

• Proficiency with CAD tools such as SolidWorks, Fusion 360 or Creo.
• Knowledge of manufacturing processes, especially injection molding, CNC machining and sheet‑metal fabrication.
• Mechanical analysis and testing expertise.
• Prototyping and iterative design development.
• Design for Manufacturability (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA) techniques.
